The Carbon Cycle
The Carbon Cycle
By George B.S.
The Carbon Cycle is one of the most important cycles in this planet. Carbon is one of the bases of life. There is many parts of the Carbon Cycle. Here is a list:
Compaction
Respiration
Decompose
We will also cover the human affect the Carbon Cycle.
Carbon is an atom, not a molecule. The most known molecule that has carbon in it is Carbon Dioxide (CO2).
Most people think respiration is simple. They think it’s just inhaling in Oxygen and exhaling Carbon Dioxide. Your every day person doesn’t know what happens afterwards. Your body turns the food you eat into sugar. Your body then makes the Oxygen and sugar collide which makes energy, water, and Carbon Dioxide. The water is mixed with salt and toxins to make urine. Energy is used as your body’s power and Carbon Dioxide is exhaled. So respiration is not just inhaling oxygen and exhaling Carbon Dioxide.
Photosynthesis is more than plants taking in Carbon Dioxide and letting out Oxygen. It also is the plants absorbing the sun’s rays, drinking the water, and absorbing nutrients from the ground. Plants make there own Oxygen and sugars. Your probably asking yourself, so where does the Oxygen they release come from, it’s excess oxygen.
When a plant or animal dies, they decompose afterwards if not eaten. When a plant or animal decomposes the dead plant or animal releases Carbon Dioxide into the air. Nutrients are provided to the ground which helps in photosynthesis. Sometimes a plant or animal does not decompose in time, in which compaction starts.
Compaction is the making of fossil fuels when a plant or animal dies without decomposing in time. The plant or animal would be buried and put under extreme pressures for millions of years. Fossil Fuels are then left under ground until humans find the fuels. Humans are using to many fossil fuels though which is affecting the Carbon Cycle. Humans need to find a different power source.
The human affect the Carbon Cycle is effecting it in a negative way. Humans are burning to many fossil fuels which is releasing Carbon Dioxide into the air. Humans also chop down to many trees for their luxuries. Over all, if humans keep on chopping down trees and burning fossil fuels, they will lead to the planets end.
In conclusion, we have learnt about the various parts of the Carbon Cycle and the negative affect that humans are causing. Over all, we need to stop using fossil fuels and trees.

Buddy Write Up
My buddy is Harrison Allen. The funny thing is that Harrison is my teacher's son. Harrison is a great speller who gets an average of 9 out 10 words right each test. Harrison has just turned 6 years old. I find hard to keep Harrison on task because, I don't want to be harsh when telling him to stay on task. I will miss Harrison when I leave Muritai.

Biography of Te Whiti-O-Rongomai
Biography of Te Whiti-O-Rongomai
By George B.S.
He received these connections from his dad. Te Whiti enrolled at Reimeshneiders Mission School. He excelled in bible studies.
Te Whiti played mind tricks on the guards. He tried to make them lose their sanity. “Te Whiti is believed to be the first Maori person to speak on a telephone. He also cut steel plates with a special saw at the Christchurch Railway Workshop.” In 1888 Te Whiti’s wife died shortly before his release, he was not allowed to go to her funeral. Once Te Whiti and Tohu arrived at Parihaka, they started to rebuild the village. They continued to protest until the Europeans stopped. The village was mixed with Europeans and Maori.
Te Whiti died on the 18th of November, 1907. He will be deeply remembered by the people New Zealand. I found Te Whiti inspiring because he protested peacefully and he never gave up on Parihaka.

Board Letter for New Desks
Room 22
Muritai Road
Eastbourne
14\02\2012
Dear Board of Trustees and Principal of Muritai,
I am a member of Room 22 and I have noticed that the desks are in poor condition. I am writing this letter to request new desks for the Senior School. These are my reasons why.
Firstly, the desks are damaged and have graffiti on them. The desks are also scratched and have carvings in them. This does not make a good impression on a new child or parent. This is one of many reasons why I would like new desks.
Secondly,(since the desks have no storage in or under them) everyone tries to get their stationery from the tote trays, everyone crowds around trying to receive there stationery. It seems like it’s a scrum gone wrong. People get distracted while this is happening and it takes up time that could used for learning.
Thirdly, the desks are different in width and height. We have four different kinds of desks in just one class. The desks are also unstable, some of the desks creak when you lean on them.
In conclusion, the desks are damaged and graffitied. It takes up time to receive our stationery. They creak and are different heights and have a different width. The desks have no storage room in or under them. Please make it happen for us.
Yours sincerely,
George Bridgeman-Sutton
